I had recently started a second Win10 guest VM at the time of the freeze (maybe 2 hours earlier). The guest window on the host still shows whatever was happening at the time of the freeze. This same guest ran without problems for months under VirtualBox 5.x.Īs you can see from the end of the log file, I can still RDP to the frozen guest, but the RDP client shows only a black screen. However, I've probably just been lucky not to have corrupted any important files on the guest When I restart the guest, everything seems fine. This problem is maddening because it often doesn't happen for days at a time, so I'm always gobsmacked when it does occur. VBox.log following the latest freeze is attached. The only escape is to "kill -9" (or "Force Quit" from Ubuntu UI) the guest. My Windows 10 guest freezes anywhere from five minutes to five days after startup. I have the same problem, on an Ubuntu 18.04 host running Linux kernel 5.0.0-29.
